Hyundai is a relative newcomer to the Irish car market but already its high quality and low costs have made their mark. Since being founded in 1967 in Korea, Hyundai has closed the gap on many of the more established names in just a few short decades and is now the eighth largest manufacturer in the world.

Hyundai has an impressive range of vehicles ranging from small city cars to large people carriers, with its very affordable Tucson and Santa Fe SUVs being particularly popular in Ireland. However, Hyundai cars are popular across the board as they offer very good quality for the price.

Hyundai's smallest offering is the i10. This award-winning city car offers fuel economy and low tax and insurance costs. It has all that is required from a city car including good safety features and low emissions. Next up is the i20, which offers a larger body size and has all the features required from a modern supermini.

With the i30 Hyundai moves into the small family car market. The mixture of bigger engine capacity, bigger body size and a host of extra features make this another very affordable option for its class. Hyundai also has its sports and executive car offerings with the Coupe and the Grandeur respectively, while the Sonata saloon and Matrix SUV both have plenty to offer.

Perhaps Hyundai's most impressive feat has been its capture of a significant share of the burgeoning SUV market with the Tucson and Santa Fe. These vehicles offer a good appearance and drivability with some excellent extra features at prices significantly lower than many of their competitors.

The Tucson is the smaller of the two models, but still packs a punch with a choice between 2.0 litre petrol or diesel engines. The Santa Fe is bigger in every way, including engine, wheels, body size and more.

One big selling point for Hyundai models is that, despite their very competitive pricing, they do not scrimp on features and accessories. Features like alloy wheels, fog lamps and MP3 player connecters are standard on cheaper models, and more expensive models offer much more.
